Zion Chapel and Hall

In 2018, the former Zion Congregational Chapel and Sunday School in Upper Settle were gifted to the North Craven Building Preservation Trust by the chapel trustees, securing them while a sustainable new use could be explored.

With support from the Architectural Heritage Fund, NCBPT commissioned a project viability study and an initial programme of public consultation. This work included a detailed digital model of the buildings, an asbestos survey and specialist examination of the roofs.

The Trust has since undertaken minor roof repairs, installed dehumidifiers and maintained the chapel and grounds with the help of volunteers. Our longer-term aim is to conserve and adapt Zion Chapel and Hall for community use. Further consultation and development work will help shape proposals that respond to local needs while respecting the character of these distinctive buildings.
